Corns & Calluses

If you’ve ever had a corn or a callus, you know that while they are not usually dangerous they are no fun to have. You put on your favorite pair of shoes and feel the rubbing on your foot. Or maybe you don’t feel it until you begin to walk, each time you foot rolls forward the ball of your foot aches with pain.

Regardless of where it hurts, you don’t need to walk around in pain or discomfort anymore. Corns and calluses are easily treated. At Raleigh Foot & Ankle Center, we see and treat corns and calluses every day.

What To Do About Corns And Calluses?

Most corns and calluses are caused by improperly fitting shoes or an abnormal gait. There is often a simple solution to getting rid of that painful corn or callus, such as wearing a different, better-fitting shoe, soaking the feet, scrubbing with a stone or sometimes even trimming the corn down (to be done by a medical professional only).

If the corn or callus is mild, it may not require treatment. If the cause of the problem is simply the shoes you wear, it may be time for a new pair of shoes. Treatment is necessary when the corn or callus causes discomfort or inhibits your daily activities. If a simple change does not solve the problem, it’s time to look into further treatment.

Let Us Help You!

Before you try any treatments it is necessary to check with a podiatrist. This is especially the case with diabetic patients. Self-treatment without medical help could result in a sore or wound that could become infected and cause more serious problems.

If your corns and calluses are causing you discomfort or pain, the doctors and staff at Raleigh Foot & Ankle Center can help ease your pain.

Treat Your Feet To Comfort
